Triathletes Jelle Geens and Louis Naeyaert shine with bronze medals
For Jelle Geens, this European Championships was an ideal opportunity to flush out the Olympics. After all, the triathlon there became a setback due to illness. For the Mixed Team Relay, the Belgian Hammers even had to forfeit because of a sick colleague. In Estonia, he competed in the half Ironman. That means 1,900 metres of swimming, 90 kilometres of cycling and a half marathon run.
Success in Australia
On the night from Saturday to Sunday, Naeyaert also achieved a nice podium finish. In Australian Townsville, the West Fleming took part in the longest triathlon he has ever done. After 3,000 metres of swimming, he was already more than two minutes behind the leading group, but he was able to approach during the cycling (114 kilometres) before running to bronze during the running test (30 kilometres).
