Pauwels Sauzen–Bingoal Continues as Pauwels Sauzen–Cibel Clementines

For many years, the riders of Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal have been racing on our bikes. This collaboration has already produced spectacular moments, including Belgian champion Eli Iserbyt and former European champion Michael Vanthourenhout. As of January 1, the team will continue as Pauwels Sauzen–Cibel Clementines, with Ridley remaining as the team’s bike partner.

The partnership with Jurgen Mettepenningen's team has been ongoing since 2006, and with the addition of a new sponsor, the team’s future is secure. Due to the ban on gambling advertising at sports events, continuing with Bingoal as the secondary title sponsor was no longer possible. However, Bingoal will remain a co-sponsor, within the scope of legally permitted advertising. Cibel Clementines, already the third main sponsor this year, will temporarily become the secondary title sponsor. Andiprim will take its place as the third main sponsor.

Cibel is a quality brand of oranges and clementines from Group Achiel De Witte. "We are pleased and grateful that a long-standing partner is stepping in to bridge the gap until our permanent second title sponsor joins us," says a satisfied Mettepenningen. From 2025, clothing sponsor Vermarc Sport and Quick will also be linked to the team.

New Team Leader

Alongside news of the new sponsors, the team also announces the arrival of a new team leader. Thomas Joseph will join Mario De Clercq and take on this role starting with the upcoming road season. "Thomas has previously been active within our team and already took on a leadership role then," Mettepenningen adds. "We believe he can now pass on his expertise to our riders."

A new vision has also been developed for the youth development team Starbikes-Vistabuild, with a focus on quality over quantity. "We will take five young riders under our wing within that team, providing them with the highest quality support. For the other riders who will not be renewing their contracts, we will assist in a smooth transition to other teams," concludes team manager Jurgen Mettepenningen.

Both Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines and Starbikes-Vistabuild continue to rely on our prestigious X-Night series, which has long been a flagship in cyclocross, guaranteeing victories and titles. This winter, Iserbyt already celebrated victory at Heerderstrand and took third place in the European Championships, while Vanthourenhout triumphed in Ardooie. We are confident that the series will continue in the coming years.

X-Night RS

A crown jewel for champions

The X-Night RS is the fifth generation of our cyclocross bike on which dozens of titles have already been won. We developed this X-Night RS tailored to the cyclocross rider, with a special cyclocross geometry and numerous aerodynamic improvements. The Ridley Racing Team will use this crown jewel from autumn 2024.
