Ridley honors Marc Wauters with custom Arena Fast

Marc Wauters is a key figure in Limburg's cycling scene. The former cyclist is the chairman of the Flemish Cycling School and Cycling Manager at Circuit Zolder. In recent years, he has played a major role in the construction of a new indoor velodrome. Today, we work closely with the Velodrome in Zolder. As part of this fruitful collaboration, we are gifting a custom Arena Fast to the driving force behind the project.

Our CEO, Jochim Aerts, and Marc Wauters have been close friends for half their lives. In the past, the Lummen native was a very accomplished rider, lovingly nicknamed "The Soldier" because his teammates could always rely on his loyal support. Wauters himself was also a pure power rider, winning Paris-Tours in 1999. His career highlight came in the 2001 Tour de France, where "The Soldier" won the stage to Antwerp and rode through his hometown the next day wearing the yellow jersey!

State-of-the-Art Velodrome

After his active cycling career, Marc Wauters remained highly involved in the sport. Many young cyclists passed through his cycling school at Circuit Zolder on their way to the top. A BMX track was also added, but the most impressive achievement was the construction of a state-of-the-art velodrome. In June 2023, we officially became a partner of this project. All enthusiasts can use the Arena A track bike on this track.
Our fastest track bike is the Arena Fast. Especially for Marc Wauters, we painted it yellow, just like the leader's jersey that marked his cycling career. Marc received the bike from our CEO, Jochim Aerts: "Marc is not only a great manager but also a loyal friend. It's truly impressive what he's built at Circuit Zolder over the past decades. He has given Limburg cycling a huge boost, and as a Limburg-based bike manufacturer, we want to give him something back for all his efforts."

"The Soldier" himself was equally enthusiastic: "I'll take it for a ride first thing tomorrow morning!" In the coming years, we can expect to see this gem appear frequently on the Velodrome.

Arena Fast

The fastest track bike in the world

We developed the Arena TT for Victor Campenaerts' 2019 World Hour Record. The Arena Fast is the next step in creating the fastest track bike in the world. We designed the Arena Fast as a future-proof modular frameset that can be used for various disciplines and is compatible with all standard wheel configurations available on the market.
