The main benefit to a kickstand is that it holds your bike upright on its own.
The bike will take up less ground space when parked and it will avoid scuffs and dirt from contact with the ground.
The geometry of a bike has to support the scope of the bike. The geometry determines how a bike will handle, react. Different terrains, different riding styles require a different handling. That’s why Ridley has developped a specific geometry for each Kanzo model. An adventure gravel bike needs a stable, confidence inspiring geometry while an aero gravel bike needs to react directly to the input of the rider. Choose your terrain and use and pick the bike that suits you best.
The frame has several mounting points to convert the bike into a full-fledged commuter bike or city bike. There is the possibility to mount mudguards, a bicycle lock or a rack. The Kalazy is not only a gravel bike, but also your companion for city traffic
The Kalazy has multiple mounting points on the downtube, seattube and under the downtube to personalize the setup of your bike. Position your bottlecageholders in het best position in combination with framebags. Add an extra bottlecage or toolkit under the downtube. The Kalazy is ready for your next adventure!
For the Grifn RS, Ridley opts for a slightly wider tire clearance compared to the Grifn. With 42 millimeters, they typically provide ample capability to handle a variety of gravel obstacles. This maintains a balance between speed and agility on one hand, and comfort and stability on the other. Of course, on the road, you can easily switch wheels or tires to opt for a narrower one if needed.
The frame has 2 attachment points on the top tube for a frame bag. Extra handy for carrying some gels, bars or to tuck away your keys! You can also use these attachment points to mount a toolkit.
The frame offers the possibility to route the cable for a rear light internally inside the top tube where it will exit near the the seattube. At the same time these cable ports are nicely hidden so when not using them, you will hardly notice them on your frame.
In 2022, the Kanzo Adventure received the Editors' Choice Award for ‘Best Gravel Bike’ from the well-known Bike Rumor. The bike's endless possibilities were once again emphasized. Ridley believes it's important to make this bike accessible at every price point and is proud that an aluminum version of this workhorse is now available.
The fork is equipped with internal cable routing for a dynamo hub. No more hassle with tape or tie-wraps to guide the cable from the dynamo hub to the front light as the cable is now nicely hidden inside the forkleg.
The Kanzo Adventure Alu can be fully customized for your next adventure. You have 12 mounting points on the frame and 6 on the fork. This allows you to change the position of the bottle holders when using panniers, and there is space for a toolkit, an extra bottle holder, fenders, or even luggage racks...
The frame and fork of the Kanzo Adventure Alu have mounting points for mudguards that protect you from rain and road dirt. The mudguards make your bike a perfect winter or commuter bike. You can order these mudguards through your Ridley dealer.
In the offroad segment, the trend is increasingly moving towards wider tires. On the Kanzo Adventure Alu, you have a tire clearance of 52 millimeters. This gives you the option to use a wide variety of tires: from fast-rolling gravel tires to more aggressive, wider tires for adventurous terrains.
The universal derailleur hanger (UDH) is the new standard in the cycling world. Not only is this derailleur hanger compatible with all modern shifting groups, it also protects against derailleur breakage and chain drops. In mountain biking, UDH has long been very common, and Ridley is bringing the technology to other segments as well.

Our aluminium bikes go through an extremely careful, high-tech process before rolling out of our Belgian assembly line as complete bikes.
We select a 6061-T6 aluminium alloy commonly used in the aircraft industry as it scores very well on stiffness, metal fatigue, weight and welding precision. All our tubes are triple-butted where central wall thickness is 3x thinner than at the ends. This minimizes weight and maximizes stiffness.
The tubes are also hydroformed - a process in which water under pressure gives the tubes the desired shape, without potential damage that mechanical shaping can cause.
Lastly, we use a “double-pass flat weld” in crucial places for extra strength and clean finish - an absolute must for modern aluminium bikes.
The frame and fork have mounts to assemble mudguards to protect you against the rain and dirt of the road. The mudguards will convert your bike in a perfect winter bike or commuter bike. In our online shop, we offer suitable mudguards that you can order together with your new bike.
Our carbon is manufactured by world market leader: Toray. The Japanese manufacturer is leader in every aspect of carbon development and supplier to absolute top world brands in many industries. For the Elite Series, we use every type of available carbon: 60T, 50T, 30T and 24T.
The higher the 'Ton', the higher the tensile strength of the carbon fibers and the more intensive the development and processing. With 60T, you may need fewer layers of carbon to achieve the desired stiffness as well as the lightest possible bike, but if you built the whole frame with 60T you'd have a very uncomfortable, over-responsive ride. Hence, a mix of 24T, 30T, 50T and 60T carbon is essential as each carbon serves a certain purpose in perfectly balancing stiffness, weight and comfort.
Each bike's unique carbon mix is dependent on its purpose, such as climbing, endurance, etc. In addition, each area of each frame requires its own unique mix depending on its function such as to provide comfort or stiffness. It is here, in the unique carbon compositions, where Ridley makes the difference!
Bikerumor editor Cory Benson chose our Kanzo Adventure as best gravel bike of 2022. He was very clear about the Kanzo Adventure.
“Where it really excels, is as a versatile, adventure & bikepacking-ready gravel bike. … It’s limitless possibilities that make this a great gravel bike, and you feel that out on the gravel roads or even singletrack.”, he writes after having experienced the Kanzo Adventure himself.
The frame has different mounts on the downtube, under the downtube and the seattube. Depending on the frame model, this can be 2, 3 or 4 mounts. These mounts will give you the opportunity to adapt your setup to the use of the bike: position your bottles in combination with a frame bag, using a toolmount in combination with a bottlecage. We have spent a lot of time to determine the optimal position for these mounts on the frame so you can optimize your personal setup
The tire clearance of a frame is determined by the use and terrain for which the frame is designed. An AllRoad gravel bike is designed for mixed use on paved and unpaved roads. Adventure gravel bikes have to be able to tackle more extreme terrain as you never know what trails you will encounter. This means that different frames will have a different tire clearance.
The recessed top tube mounts combined with the flush fitting cover result in hidden mounting points when the mounts are not used. No bolt head sticking out to clutter the sleek looking top tube profile.
A spacer is provided to fill the recess when using a top tube bag. This spacer also doubles as a strap mount so that you can strap various accessories to the top tube.
Our Ridley Kanzo Adventure has been named 'Best in Test' by Gran Fondo Cycling . This digital and freely available magazine searched for the 'Best Adventure Gravel Bike' and found it in our Kanzo Adventure.
"The Kanzo Adventure brings a smile to your face in all situations,” the magazine says. "It feels capable of tackling any obstacle and offers plenty of reserves for every adventure, making this bike the ultimate adventure buddy."
We can't agree more!
The fork has different mounts to take mudguards and different types of bottle cages, cargo cages or a lowrider. This gives you plenty of options to position your luggage on the bike. They are also positioned as low as possible to keep the center of gravity low. This improves also the handling of bike when fully packed.
The Noah Fast is our most technological bike, and it has lots to do with its tube shapes. This includes its F-Tubing, F-Wings, lowered seat stays, D-shaped seatpost and aero handlebars.
In addition, the Noah Fast features many other outstanding tech advantages such as integration of fork and handlebar with the frame.
Many developers thoroughly test each part for aerodynamics, but forget to test the bike as a whole. Our testing method, in contrast, ensures that all aspects of the bike are tested as well as the perfect integration of all essential components.
In addition, the massive bottom bracket and lowered chain stays play an important role in converting every watt into maximum speed. Now you see why Caleb Ewan relies on this bike!
At the bottom of the bike’s fork there are small, aerodynamic “wings” – hence, the name F-Wings.
Our engineers developed these fairings after extensive testing in the wind tunnel, where they noticed that the hub and its connection to the fork were causing turbulence. These F-Wings fairings ensure that this turbulent airflow flows smoothly again.
You can compare the F-Wings with the modern wings of an airplane, which are also referred to as 'broken wings' because their tips fold upwards. The tips allow aircrafts to save a lot of fuel because it significantly reduces turbulent air behind the wings. Now you see how our F-Wings have a significant impact on your fuel economy!
How can you ride faster without pedaling harder? How do objects "cut" through wind? While researching ways to improve aerodynamics, the bicycle industry began to gather knowledge from the aviation industry. From this, well-known NACA flight profiles, for designing wings and other components, began to be applied to the tubes of a bike frame.
With further research, our engineers found many additional potential optimisations. By shortening the end of the NACA profiles (F-Tubing), we discovered that drag was reduced. We also created a groove in the frame called the F-Surface Plus. By applying this technique, we created an airflow that flows more efficiently along the tube.
Want to know more about aerodynamics and NACA profiles? Read this blog!
The D-shaped seatpost on our aero bikes has a dual function of aerodynamics with a strong emphasis on comfort. Its aerodynamic influences are clearly seen as its profile and groove are both features of our F-Tubing. The cross profile of the seatpost is also shorter than that of the shortened NACA profile of, for example, the down tube.
While very aerodynamic, we certainly built much comfort into this unique D-shaped seatpost design. The flat backside filters out a lot of shock by incorporating flex into the seatpost. This is an important extra feature that we added to our aero bikes as comfort can certainly improve performance, especially during those extra-long rides.
The rear end of a bike is crucial for both adding comfort and maximizing power transfer.
For added comfort, the seatstays are connected lower down on the seat tube. Due to this lower point of contact, both the seat tube and seatpost can more effectively filter out vibrations. In addition, the seatstays can provide more vertical flexibility. All this results in a more comfortable bike ride.
As for winning watts, the shape of the seatstays is oval with the widest side on the horizontal axis. This is key to maximizing power transfer. By placing this wide side horizontally, every watt produced is converted into speed, without losing power on the way to the rear wheel.
Cables at the front of your bike have a major impact on its aerodynamic performance. On the flipside, getting rid of cables at the front has an aero advantage of a whopping 10 to 14%, depending on the bike.
That's why our R&D department dedicated much time and effort into developing the D-shaped steerer tube, which integrates all front-end cables.
This uniquely shaped steerer tube allows all cables to pass through the handlebar and stem, along the flat front area of the steerer tube and down into the frame. Here the cables are completely hidden from the wind - and from your eye, leaving you with a clean looking bike that wins you speed.
Download the manual here to find out how to properly guide all cables through all components.
Our carbon is manufactured by world market leader: Toray. The Japanese manufacturer is leader in every aspect of carbon development and supplier to absolute top world brands in many industries.
For the Essential Series, we use two types of carbon: 24T and 30T. The Elite Series, though, goes one step further and also uses 50T and 60T carbon. With the addition of these two carbons, combined with great effort, we can get the weight extremely low without compromising comfort and stiffness.
The Essential Series directly benefits from the carbon layup knowledge gained through the creation of the Elite Series. This means that our Essential Series reaches that same level of stiffness and comfort, albeit a slight bit heavier due to the use of 24T and 30T only which require more layers compared to 50T and 60T to reach the desired stiffness.
It's all about shape and material! Round handlebar tubes cause a stronger pressure drop which kills aerodynamics. But they can be more comfy than an aero bar which, when not designed properly, can feel very flat and angular. This alone can easily ruin a 200km Gran Fondo effort.
That's why our engineers spent a lot of time on the Noah Fast integrated handlebar. It has a distinct aerodynamic profile and not overly wide. The carbon lay-up adds to its comfort, but becomes incredibly stiff and responsive when accelerating.
We use a classic, round bend with drops that are flared by five degrees so you're easily in an aero position. No annoying pressure points or impossible hand positions!

-Drop: 130mm
-Reach: 75mm
-Flare: 5°

The fork crown has an integrated diffuser to reduce drag. The airflow passes more easily through fork crown while extra energy is added to it. The result is that the airflow passes the downtube more easily without pushing the bike back. At the same time there is less drag in the area behind the fork and headtube.
Less resistance, more speed!
Already before the official launch, the Falcn RS participated in a test of Cycling Plus with top-end road bikes and got nominated testwinner!
According to Cycling Plus “the Falcn RS delivered the fastest and most entertaining ride, which is what race bikes are all about”.
This is exactly what we had in mind when developping the bike!
In 2024, the Dutch magazine Bicycling named the Falcn RS the 'Best Performance Road Bike' at the 2024 Bike Awards! During this annual ceremony, the jury took into account the price, features, and preferences of the rider! For our product developers, this recognition is the icing on the cake after the Falcn RS has already proven its qualities in many areas!
The Falcn RS is the ultimate all-round performance-oriented racing bike that offers a perfect balance between lightweight and aerodynamic design. It is the ideal bike for riders who demand the best from themselves and their equipment thanks to its lightweight frame, aerodynamic features, race geometry, and reactive handling. Cobbles, steep climbs, and fast races: this bike can handle it all.
The focus in the road bike market used to be on stiffness versus weight, but has recently shifted to the balance between aero and weight. Ridley decided to combine the best of both worlds with the Falcn, meaning it has been made as aerodynamic as possible without sacrificing the bike's weight. The Falcn has a similar aero performance to the Noah Fast and weighs just 990g (in size Medium), meaning cyclists no longer have to choose between lightweight and aero.
Both our gravel bikes and our all-road bikes are developed in collaboration with the Classified Ridley Team. As a professional gravel team, they have the knowledge and experience in competition and are ideally positioned to assist us in the quest for marginal gains.
The frame features three mounting points on and under the downtube, as well as on the seattube, allowing you to customize the positioning of your bottle cages in conjunction with a frame bag. Additionally, there are two mounting points on the top tube for a top tube bag or toolkit, cleverly concealed under a cover. Furthermore, we have designed specific mudguards for the Grifn, enabling you to use your bike in all weather conditions.
The lighter weight of the Grifn RS is the result of an optimized carbon structure and the use of lighter and stiffer carbon fibers, resulting in a weight improvement of 140 grams compared to the Grifn.
Like every bike in the Grifn family, you have the option to route the cable for a rear light through the top tube. This internal cable routing for the dynamo hub is also concealed in the fork leg, eliminating the need for tape and protruding cable ties. This enables you to install lighting on your bike, which is a highly convenient addition when you want to venture into the darkness.
With the Grifn family, you can hit the road as well as the off-road. You simply change wheelsets and do a gran fondo gravel on Saturday and hit the road the day after with the regular cycling club. With this family, you no longer need any other bikes.
In 2024 heeft de Franse magazine Top Vélo de Grifn RS bekroond met de titel 'Gravel Bike of the Year'. ‘A versatile gravel bike that can handle anything, with a design that is a masterpiece in terms of ease of use, performance and comfort,‘ the judges’ verdict reads. 'The Grifn RS masterfully represents the new category of all-road bikes. It is a bike that is infinitely configurable and customisable!’
The Fenix has a unique tube profile. When you slice the frame lengthwise in half, you'll see a clear distinction between 'comfort' and 'stiffness'.
The oversized headset provides extra stiffness and stability which is instantly felt when accelerating or in its pinpoint handling. The massive downtube increases stiffness while adding strength. Its BB86 bottom bracket and asymmetrical chainstay deliver max power transfer.
The slightly curved top tube becomes narrower and rounder when moving towards the seat tube. Like a leaf spring, it helps absorb bumps in the road. The 27.2mm seatpost filters out vibrations, along with slim, oval-shaped seat stays which provide the perfect balance between stiffness and comfort. Learn about the seat stays HERE.
The jury agrees: the Grifn can do it all. "If there was one word that Ridley had in mind when developing the Grifn allroad bike, it was versatility. Whether its gravel roads or alpine passes, with the right tires, the bike can do it all. Added to that is the Grifn’s low-key, classic looks", is what the jury concludes.
We’re very proud to be awarded the Design & Innovation Award, the Oscars of the bike and outdoor industries.
The Grifn has 11 mounting points for a 100% personalised setup. With three mounting points on and under the down tube and three mounting points on the seat tube, you can fully determine the position of your bottle cages and frame bag. You also have two mounting points on the top tube for an extra bag or toolkit. You can cleverly hide these under a handy cover.
Our product developers designed specific mudguards for the Grifn. You can order these and have them installed at your local dealer! That way, you can use your Grifn in all weather conditions and it is also fully suitable for commuting.
The maximum tire clearance of the Grifn is 40 millimetres in a 1x setup and 38 millimetres with a 2x setup. This is a deliberate choice for a width sufficient to handle the vast majority of dirt roads. You can also opt for extra-wide tyres on the road, which provides a surplus of comfort and makes the Grifn ideal for long days in the saddle.
Ridley opts for a 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for the Grifn A due to its excellent scores in stiffness, metal fatigue, weight, and welding precision. Each tube has a wall thickness at its center three times thinner than at the ends, employing the ‘triple-butted’ technique to minimize weight and maximize stiffness. The clean welding of each tube ensures that the Grifn A is a thoroughly modern aluminum bike.
For the E-Grifn, Ridley has opted for the battery with the largest capacity (350Wh), with the option to expand it further with a 171 Wh range extender that replaces a water bottle holder. Based on user data from Mahle, engineers know that the 350 Wh battery is sufficient for most rides in this all-road segment. The battery can be charged to 80% in 2 hours and fully in 3.5 hours. Integrated neatly into the frame, the battery results in the appearance of a sporty bike with the added support of an e-bike.
The Mahle X20 drive unit is a compact and proven system that makes the impossible possible. The assistance is proportional to the force applied to the pedals, made possible by a torque sensor in the bottom bracket communicating with the software. Importantly, the system provides power only when you pedal, maintaining the feeling of riding a bike with a gentle breeze at your back. Additionally, the X20 motor operates virtually without additional mechanical resistance above the 25 kilometers per hour limit, ensuring a fluid riding experience. In summary, Mahle stands for three pillars: light, sport, and smart!
With the Mahle X20, you have three levels of bike assistance, specifically tailored for the Grifn by our product managers in collaboration with Mahle. We chose to determine these levels ourselves rather than opting for the standard settings, conducting various test sessions with different types of riders until the ideal three levels were found. This custom mapping exemplifies our eternal pursuit of perfection. Switching between the different assistance levels can be done via the satellite buttons on the handlebars or via the controller on the top tube, which also visually displays the battery capacity and assistance level. The system is ANT+ compatible, allowing battery status, support level, and personal power to be available to other ANT+ compatible devices.
Made For 100 up to 120mm suspension
We chose to make the geometry suitable for different kind of riders,
A 100mm setup makes It easier to maneuver and give a more plush ride on the trail
As for the 120mm improves the handling on higher speed when riding over bumps and rocks and down country terrain.
A dropper post is one of the biggest cycling innovations in the last decade. It has made riding all types of bikes easier, safer, and more efficient. The main benefit of a dropper post is increased safety while riding the lever system allows you to quickly move the saddle out of the way when approaching descents or trail obstacles. With the saddle out of the way, you’re able to be in the appropriate riding position to handle upcoming variations in terrain without fear of your saddle pitching you over the handlebars.
The geometry is fully adapted to the intended use of the bicycle and the terrain.
The geometry is incredibly versatile and it makes the bike the perfect partner in crime for all your races and offroad escapades.
Our cross country mountain bike delivers the perfect balance of responsive handling and extra confidence at high speeds.
For both our hardtails and full suspensions we've chosen a slightly sharper seat angle. This gives you a more compact seating position for more efficient pedaling while seated.
By combining a larger head angle with a (slightly) shorter wheelbase, you get an aggressively handling mountain bike. Yet you feel that the MTB lets you to take fast descents with full confidence due to its slightly longer rear triangle.
The geometry of the Ridley MTBs is truly designed to maximize your pleasure. Whether your preference is ultra-technical trails or fast flowing surfaces, our MTBs are always ready for your adventures!
All cables run through the inside of the frame on our mountain bikes. Not only does this reduce their risk of damage during cycling, but it also has a positive effect on maintenance and service life of all components.
In addition, with no external cables, there is less mud build-up to keep the bike light. It also wins you watts due to improved aerodynamics and ensures for a clean, sleek-looking machine.
At Ridley bikes it starts all here with us in Paal, Belgium.
We developed a frame that is drawn from scratch.
Together with a European partner we managed to produce frames in Europe.
This benefits
that we have more control over production and future developments.
The Astr family has a tyre clearance of 52 millimetres on a 1x setup and 47 millimetres on a 2x setup. Our product developers took this decision because the race terrain is getting rougher and riders feel the need to be armed for this. With this, we confirm our role as a trendsetter in the gravel segment.
Modern performance geometry demands more stability due to increasingly rough terrain combined with higher speeds. A 71.5-degree headtube angle ensures you have faster handling. The Astr family features a steeper seat tube (74 degrees), improving climbing performance and power transfer.
The product developers kept the chainstays as short as possible to accommodate tyres up to 52 millimetres without losing the feeling of responsiveness when accelerating. In addition, the bottom bracket is a bit lower. This ensures you have more stability at high speed. Finally, the head height is lower, so you sit more aerodynamically on the bike. In summary, this boils down to a modern competitive geometry, tailor-made for the ambitious gravel racer.
Ridley launched its first gravel bike in 2016, kicking off the European gravel market. The Kanzo Fast geometry is therefore the result of five years of focused research and evolution.
Even though our gravel geometry has evolved, its essence remains the same: "off-road confidence." Helping to deliver this strong feeling of stability is a lower bottom bracket and fork angle that's slightly more 'open'.
The Kanzo Fast has a stack that's 22mm higher than our Noah Fast (across all sizes). While its geometry is still very aero, this extra height allows for a slightly more comfortable overall position, and a much more comfortable position while in the drops.
Further adding to its comfort is a shorter reach of 5-9mm (XS-XL) compared to Noah Fast.
With the Kanzo Fast gravel handlebar, our engineers combined their Noah Fast integrated handlebar knowledge with the unique characteristics of a gravel handlebar. Needless to say, round tubing was never considered as it causes an anti-aero strong pressure drop. And much effort was put into avoiding that flat, angular feeling where off-road riding is painful.
What they created was the ideal gravel handlebar, where responsiveness and aerodynamics are at an unprecedented level.
Its redesigned carbon layup absorbs more vibration, making the handlebar even more comfortable. We also added more flare to the drops and reduced both drop and reach to allow for swift changes in hand position.
The details:
-Drop: 120mm
-Reach: 70mm
-Flare: 16°
-Stem: 10°
The Kanzo Fast contains lots of exceptional technology such as our F-Tubing, F-Wings, lowered seat stays, D-shaped seatpost, Kanzo aero gravel handlebar and the 1x Only.
Another remarkable feature is its seamless integration of fork and handlebar with the frame.
Most developers thoroughly test each part for aerodynamics, but forget to test the bike as a whole. Our testing method, in contrast, ensures that all aspects of the bike are tested as well as the perfect integration of all essential components.
In addition, the massive bottom bracket and dropped chainstays play an important role in converting every watt into maximum speed. You'll feel it from the very first pedal stroke, and especially when getting back up to speed after every turn.
Our Kanzo Fast has been voted the best gravel race bike of 2023. The Gran Fondo jury agrees: “Kanzo Fast bike offers a majestic combination of aero optimization and comfort, not just allowing professionals to fly along the gravel roads of this world, but also gravel beginners”.
Gran Fondo cycling magazine is very appreciative of the performance of our Kanzo Fast: “No other bike seemed to encourage us to push ourselves quite as much as the Kanzo Fast”.
We are very proud of this award from Gran Fondo cycling magazine.
With any bike development, you have to make decisions. Do you opt for the standard? Or dare to innovate? When designing the Kanzo Fast, we were faced with this very crucial decision. Do we configure the seat tube for a front derailleur, thereby reducing possible tire width and aerodynamics? Or do we ditch the front derailleur? With the development of 12-speed and 13-speed groupsets, and new technology such as Classified, we were able to successfully do away with the front derailleur.
Since we no longer had to consider dual chainrings, we could design the chainstays to our liking, while still having plenty of room for 42mm tires. As proven by extensive wind tunnel testing, removing the front derailleur also had a major effect on aerodynamics.
At first glance, the tubes of the Helium look very classic - like ordinary round tubes. But upon closer inspection, you'll quickly notice that we actually opted for slightly oval profiles. The cross section is slightly larger on the vertical axis than on the horizontal axis. In this way, we maximize both power transfer and comfort, while keeping the weight as low as possible. We're talking next-level development!
While there certainly are advantages to be gained by using round tubes as they can achieve a perfect stiffness to weight ratio (when wall thickness of tubes is thin at the center, becoming slightly thicker towards the ends), our oval tubes win you that extra element of comfort without compromising power transfer or weight.
The Bafang G310 250W motor delivers enough power to help you climb hills and gain speed on flat terrain.
The 360 Wh battery gives you a range of up to 90 km on a single charge.
The carbon fork ensures a smooth ride and absorbs bumps and vibrations from the road.
Integrated cables make your bike look neat.
The integrated front and rear lights make it easy to see and be seen in low-light conditions.
Lightweight and durable, the Urbx's hydro aluminium frame is made to last.
The X-Night RS is the fifth generation of the hugely successful cyclocross bike. In the past, world champions such as Mario De Clercq, Bart Wellens, Erwin Vervecken and Zdenek Stybar already rode the X-Night. Wout van Aert and Tom Pidcock also won youth titles on a bike from this family. In recent years, the riders of Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal took care of the necessary victories and now Ridley Racing Team also uses this bike.
As usual on a cyclocross bike, the bottom bracket sits higher than on a gravel bike or road bike with the aim of riding agile and smoothly through the mud and taking short turns without touching the ground with the pedals. The steep angle of the head tube and shorter wheelbase allow the cyclo-cross rider to fully exploit his or her technique. Ridley designs a modified chainstay with extra space around the bottom bracket and between the rear wheel and the chainstay fork to allow for easy mud clearance. Thanks to these technical aspects, you can race for an hour, full on acceleration, braking, turning, turning and jumping. Everything you need to excel in cyclocross.
The X-Night RS has a special top tube for the running lanes in the field. This is typical of a true cross bike, as having a straight shape and a flattened bottom makes it easier to carry the bike on the shoulder. The upper headset bearing, in turn, creates more space for cable routing, which improves maintenance. The stiffness created makes you fly razor-sharp through corners.
The D-shaped seatpost is more aerodynamic than a round model. Moreover, it is also practical. When there is a fall, which is not rare in cyclo-cross, the saddle will always remain in the correct position. In this way, the X-Night RS is the most aerodynamic bike of this family.
Based on feedback from cyclocross riders at Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal, Ridley is putting special attachment points on the top tube to attach water bottle cages to the bike. This comes in handy in hot weather or during long endurance training sessions, as hydration remains an important part of exercise.
Competition riders and ambitious amateurs naturally want first and foremost to cleave through the wind as fast as possible. Even in cyclo-cross, aerodynamics are still gaining importance. Average speeds are ever higher and races are more often a fly meeting. The X-Night RS therefore has aerodynamic tube shapes based on those of the successful Falcn RS.
As cyclocross is such a specific sport, we've developed over the years, together with our champions, a geometry that's completely specific to cross.
We opted for a classic non-sloping top tube to significantly increase the angle between seat tube and top tube for more comfortable shouldering space.
The bottom bracket is slightly higher off the ground for smoothly jumping barriers and creating that feeling of champing at the bit, where the bike wants to quickly sprint back up to speed after every turn. The risk of hitting the pedal on the ground is minimized, so pedal through turns and off-cambers and drop your competition!
Further increasing your advantage is its slightly shorter head tube designed to achieve that aggressive riding position.
Do note that when choosing bike size, due to this cyclocross-specific geometry you cannot simply choose your road bike size for your CX bike. Most athletes actually opt for one size smaller, but be sure to check with your bike fitter.
