World Records for Hélène Hesters and Marith Vanhove

This weekend, two world records were shattered during the Belgian Track Cycling Championships at the Velodrome in Zolder. Hélène Hesters set the world record in the 4000 meters individual pursuit. A day later, Marith Vanhove did the same in the kilometer. The titles were earned on the Arena Fast and confirm the work done by our engineers in this discipline.

On January 1, 2025, the UCI introduced new distances for women on the track. The distance increased from 3 kilometers to 4 kilometers, the same distance as for men. It was the perfect moment for Hélène Hesters to challenge the world record. She smashed the record with a time of 4'42"154, beating Marion Borras' previous record by over half a second.

Lindsay De Vylder

The next day, Marith Vanhove followed this great example. The kilometer is also a new distance for women (replacing the 500 meters). Vanhove achieved a time of 1'08"399, breaking Taky Marie-Divine Kouamé's record. A huge boost for both ladies! Our engineers also deserve recognition. At the Six Days of Ghent, Lindsay De Vylder proved that the new Arena Fast is the perfect bike for these disciplines. They are currently putting the finishing touches on the Omnium Fast. Belgian Cycling riders will also use this new track bike.
