About Falcn

The Falcn Essential builds on the success of this Falcn RS.The performance geometry and tyre clearance of 34 millimetres are identical, and the diffuser fork crown and universal derailleur hanger (UDH) are also retained.

This geometry was carefully designed by Ridley's product developers with a focus on speed, stability and responsiveness. The head tube length is shorter than that of the Noah Fast and Helium SLX, providing a more aggressive riding position. The bottom bracket is located lower because it has been adapted to the ability to ride with thicker tyres. so the rider maintains excellent control.

The points of difference are in the round seatpost on the Falcn Essential (versus a D-shaped seatpost on the Falcn RS) and the carbon composition. Nevertheless, the frame of the Falcn Essential still weighs only 990 grams.

Optimized Tire Clearance

Over the years, there has been a growing trend toward the use of wider tires on road bikes. The Falcn is designed around 28 mm tires and has a maximum tire clearance of 34 mm, providing greater tire clearance than the standard maximum of 28 mm found on most current road bikes. This allows for more comfort and reduced rolling resistance, as wider tires can be used at lower pressures.

With its increased tire clearance, the Falcn offers superior performance on paved roads and beyond. The Falcn even excels on poorly maintained roads and cobblestone sections. It is the perfect companion to take on new challenges and perform at the highest level in road cycling.

The ultimate all-round performance-oriented bike

The Falcn is the ultimate all-round performance-oriented racing bike that offers a perfect balance between lightweight and aerodynamic design. It is the ideal bike for riders who demand the best from themselves and their equipment thanks to its lightweight frame, aerodynamic features, race geometry, and reactive handling. Cobbles, steep climbs, and fast races: this bike can handle it all.

Aero-To-Weight

The focus in the road bike market used to be on stiffness versus weight, but has recently shifted to the balance between aero and weight. Ridley decided to combine the best of both worlds with the Falcn, meaning it has been made as aerodynamic as possible without sacrificing the bike's weight. The Falcn has a similar aero performance to the Noah Fast and weighs just 990g (in size Medium), meaning cyclists no longer have to choose between lightweight and aero.

Diffuser fork crown

The fork crown has an integrated diffuser to reduce drag. The airflow passes more easily through fork crown while extra energy is added to it. The result is that the airflow passes the downtube more easily without pushing the bike back. At the same time there is less drag in the area behind the fork and headtube.

Less resistance, more speed!

Removable front derailleur clamp

The removable front derailleur clamp will give your bike a clean and neat look when using a 1x setup. We have designed a specific cover to replace the clamp when not used.

UDH Hanger

The universal derailleur hanger (UDH) is the new standard in the cycling world. Not only is this derailleur hanger compatible with all modern shifting groups, it also protects against derailleur breakage and chain drops. In mountain biking, UDH has long been very common, and Ridley is bringing the technology to other segments as well.

Help & support

How can we help?

What is the tire clearance?

The tire cleance of the Falcn (RS) is 34mm, actual width. This means the actual width of the tire on the rim. This can be different from the size mentionned on the tire.

What TA is used on the bike?

The frame needs a 12mm TA with a thread of 1mm (Ridley article code QRET124ZA046)

Which hanger is used on the bike?

The uses the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH). This means you will find easily a replacement hanger wherever you are as it is a standardised hanger (Ridley article code HANUDHSRA001)

What BB standard is used?

We use a BB86 press-fit bottom bracket standard on the Fenix SLiC, Fenix Disc, Kanzo Adventure, Kanzo Fast, Grifn, X-Night RS, Falcn (RS), ASTR RS

Can I use a traditionnal stem-handlebar combination?

Yes, you can use both an integrated Forza Cirrus Pro cockpit on the bike or a traditionnal stem-handlebar combination using a transition spacer (SPAAER4ZA012) to round spacers or a Deda Superbox

What is the frame weight of the Falcn?

Frame weight of the Falcn is 990gr (+-10%) for an unpainted frame in size M.

What is the maximum torque for the seatpost clamp?

The maximum torque to fix the seatpost clamp is 10Nm, like mentionned on the clamp

What is the seatpost diameter?

The frame uses a traditionnal 27,2mm round seatpost.
